Service Description

The weekly after-school class runs alongside the QLD State School terms. It is perfect for children between the aged of 8 to 17 years old. Unlike some other children's art school where it is more a great play and socializing experience, my classes are unique in that I teach realistic artistic foundations of drawing that are understandable by children. Around the age of 10, most kids appear to give up on drawing because they realize all of a sudden that what they are creating is not as realistic as they had imagined. At this age, children who are given the chance to learn realistic skills are more likely to stick with it. What can you expect from this class? - An introduction on the materials that artists use including graphite pencils, erasers and papers - What should you look for when you draw - How do you create an outline like an artist - What measuring methods do artists use to obtain the right proportions - How should you apply shadings and find the tonal values - How do you arrange your drawing to make it visually appealing to viewers and look nice in composition Through step by step methods I offer individual attention for every single child. I will take 10 to 20 minutes at the start of each class to go over certain techniques or methods. I will then give students the exercise that I have selected so they can practice using that specific technique or methods. During the term, there will be free drawing sessions where students can select their preferred drawings from an extensive selection of samples. I'll guide them and assist them in finishing the artwork. Note: You must bring your own supplies to class, including drawing paper, sharpeners, erasers, and graphite pencils. Please make sure you read the material lists before making any purchases because there is a wide variety of products available and I don't want my students to waste money on ones that don't work well. A material list can be found on my website under 'Art Tips' section.
